Si2 develops OpenAccess training materials and updates them regularly to
improve the content and to keep up with the major API releases.
The Si2 training materials are available in 3 different presentation formats:
PDF Tutorial,
Online Courseware,
Face-to-Face training.
Towards enabling the community to evaluate OpenAccess more completely, Si2 offers most recent editions of the OpenAccess Tutorial (PDF) and the labs free
any user. The tutorial gives evaluators a look at the changes and
features in the recent, coalition-only releases of OpenAccess.

PDF Tutorial
The ultimate in a compact, take-and-go package, this Si2 OpenAccess Tutorial
is organized around an instructional model
that builds concepts in a meaningful progression from basic to advanced.
The Tutorial covers the bulk of the API and includes,
- Full text search to make the tutorial useful as a reference, too.
- Extensive hyperlinking to simplify navigation among related topics.
- Illustrations to aid understanding throughout the material.
- Periodic exercises (with answers) to provide instant feedback on progress.
- Dozens of C++ coding labs with "fill-ins" to reinforce practical
use of API classes and methods -- or simply to be used as complete,
working program examples.
The Si2 OpenAccess Tutorial is self-paced to maximize productive use
of a busy professional's time. It is the most efficient way to achieve
expertise with the OA API, in as much depth as
an individual engineer needs.
On-line Courseware
For an even richer experience, try the
Si2 OpenAccess Online Course
(requires the current OpenAccess license for access to the OA API).
As of April, 2009, the OpenAccess Online Course is available to OpenAccess
Coalition Members only.
Watch the Online Course Demo
It has the same, self-paced instructional content as the PDF Tutorial,
and in addition,
- Every use of an OA class name is directly hyperlinked to its
class page in the API docs.
- Convenient C++ and VLSI online-book references are included.
- Animations [with platform limitations] help understanding
of some of the more complex illustrations.
- Collapsible nav bars make the navigation even easier.
- A "Comment" tool enables community collaboration to extend
the material or provide instantaneous errata
(at a per-page granularity).
- Si2Deltas highlight every change from the prior Course version.
- An integrated search engine finds matches across several different
document trees and groups hits according to where they are found: the
Courseware, labs, OA Class Reference, Programmers Guide, auxiliary
materials, etc.
Face-to-face training
Customized, classroom-based training is also available for
sale or as a benefit of OAC or Si2 membership. Please contact Si2 for
arrangements.
