The Open Modeling Coalition (OMC) is made up
of three levels. At the top is the OMC itself. Reporting to the OMC is an
elected Technical Steering Group. Reporting to the TSG are domain specific
Working Groups. The
current active working groups are: ECSM-CMG, Statistical, JDM, and Characterization.
The OMC architecture is available on the Si2 website and is well
worth perusing. (Also see diagram below)
The OMC is making good progress. The
Statistical Static Timing model: Statistical ECSM was approved by the OMC TSG and has now exited the 60
day exclusion period. Si2 is recommending approval of the S-ECSM specification
as an Si2 standard by the OMC. A two-week window set for e-vote by OMC members
started on 09/12.
The OMC has a defined
architecture (see diagram below). A partial reference flow 1.0 of this
architecture was demonstrated at DAC 2007. Attendees
were excited with the demonstration and interested in the future of the
project. The Joint Data Modeling working group took the feedback from the
demonstration and has turned the proof-of-concept into a formal OpenAccess
extension prototype, which will be demonstrated at the OpenAccess Conference in
November.
There has long been an open question about ECSM and CCS non-convergence.
Is it a real issue or hype? To that end, Si2 has sent out a survey to over
2,000 recipients to understand the costs of non-convergence. These results will
be used to drive the next steps on this issue.
